Carlo Biffani is the founder and managing director of Security Consulting Group
He attended the School of Physical Education in Rome, and from 1986 to 1988 was a Complimentar Officer of the Italian Army, assigned to the 2nd Battalion “Tarquinia” of the “Folgore” Parachutist Regiment.
For over 20 years he has worked in Risk Assessment and Risk Mitigation on behalf of corporations and organizations at both national and international level, in Algeria (since 1994), Iraq (since 2004), Darfur in Sudan for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2006) Somalia (2014) and in the majority of European countries, South America, Lebanon, Libya and Kazakhstan.
He writes articles and detailed studies which are regularly published in the Italian Information Service’s periodical, “Gnosis” and in leading Italian newspapers, and also for the SCG website. He is also the coauthor of a book on Somalian piracy called “Bandits”.
He has been consultant to the transmission “Matrix”, one of Italy’s leading current affairs TV programs, and to TGCOM, the main news programme, all aired nationwide on Canale 5, Italy’s biggest Commercial TV station.
In the last 15 years he has been interviewed more than 50 times by national newspapers on matters concerning security, intelligence, maritime piracy, the Special Force’s tactical activities and terrorism.
He collaborates with universities and other research centers, and also with the Parliamentary Commission for Security Services, advising on the mitigation of the kidnapping risk of volunteers and tourists in medium-high risk areas. He has also been asked to speak to the Defense Commission of the Senate.
